About Ric Rac Studio
Hello! I’m Matt Ellis, the owner of Ric Rac Studio. Thanks for visiting!
Ric Rac is my passion project. I’m an artist and plant lover in Portland, Oregon specializing in unique aroids. Growing up on a nursery, a love of caring for and living with plants was instilled at an early age. Degrees in biology and art led me to a deepened interest in caring for living things and finding intriguing ways to incorporate them into our spaces. I worked for years in the research and education department of a fused glass manufacturer, working with a chemist to design new colors of glass and applying that knowledge as a teacher from beginner to master level artists and fabricating large scale commisioned art works. For the last five years, I have worked with my family’s second generation landscape company to grow native plants and ornamental landscape stock to green up new developments and homes around Oregon and Washington. We have installed millions of trees and tens of millions of plants over the course of our 40+ years in business.
My passion for handcrafted goods and plant care come together at Ric Rac Studio to bring you not only beautiful and hard to find plants, but also the knowledge and materials to help you successfully care for your wishlist plants and make them a part of your home to enjoy and admire.
If you have any questions, please email Matt@RicRacStudio.com or check out my social media pages linked at the bottom this site.
